My dad told me this true story that took place in the Forties...
My dad, Allen James “Jay” Ball, was in Lovick’s Cafe, in Kinston, sitting at the front counter. A man walked in and sat down close to my dad at the counter. The man behind the counter said: “Can I help you? The man replied, gruffly: “Give me a sandwich.” The man behind the counter said: “What kind of sandwich?” The man replied: “I don’t care--just fix me a sandwich.” So the guy fixed him a sandwich. When he placed it on the counter, the customer said, rudely: “I don’t want that sandwich.”
All the while this conversation was taking place, my dad was taking it in. He interrupted saying: “You ordered that sandwich now you eat it.” The man said: “Whata ya mean?” My dad, pretty upset by the man’s rude behavior said: “I said, you told the man that you wanted a sandwich and you didn’t care what kind of sandwich, so now; you eat it!”
The man, figuring my dad was serious, picked up his sandwich, moving further down the counter next to another man. He looked at the guy, sitting there quietly, and said: “I’m gonna have ta whip his a-- before I leave here.” The man said calmly: “You mean that man right there?” nodding towards my dad. The troublemaker said: “Yeah.” The quiet onlooker hauled off, and without any warning, punched the guy right in the face, knocking him onto the floor of Lovick’s Cafe.
The man didn’t know it, but the guy he’d been grumbling to, about my dad, saying he was going to have to “whip his a--”--was my dad’s brother--my Uncle “D.J.”

At a church service, in Kinston, North Carolina, in the ‘70s, a prominent church member stood up, announcing to the preacher and the congregation, The Lord told me that the church needs to pray for brother “so-and-so.” A lady quickly spoke up, saying to the prominent church member: “Brother “so-and-so” is dead.”

SARAH PALIN: THE WRATH OF FAR-LEFT LIBERALS
I've never, in my lifetime, seen anyone treated as cruelly as Sarah Palin, in America. The fact that Palin is an evangelical Christian, an accomplished public servant, a good mother, and good wife, makes the hatred of her critics all the more horrific, shameful, and perplexing. The America I grew up in, in the 1950s and 1960s, no longer exists. Common sense, integrity, and morality are no longer popular concepts among many Americans.
When I was a boy, It was not okay for a young girl to lift her t-shirt to partially expose her breasts on national TV. It was not okay for a President of the U.S. to behave like a dictator.

Then he took nude photos of his lover, Mia Farrow's, adopted daughter and subsequently married her. The lack of integrity in Hollywood is surpassed only by its narcissism and inflated sense of self-importance and relevance.
We are travelling down a dangerous road my friends. A nation so divided cannot long reign as a super power. A nation with no moral absolutes is destined to wind up on the trash heap of former nations of glory and power.

My mother has cancer. She'll be 83 on May 14th this year. The prognosis was "six months to live"---ten months ago. As soon as Obama's health care plan was passed the Obama government cancelled my Mother's Medicaid. Did you get that?

Coincidence? My Mother had Medicaid for 21 years!
She still had it for two years, while receiving VA assistance, under the heading of Widow's Death Benefit.
My Mother loves America. Four of her brothers served in the military, during World War II, as did my Dad., Her sons---my brother and I---served in the army, during the Vietnam war years.
My mother always had faith in America. She loves this country. She was sweating in a shirt factory in 1944, at age 17---paying taxes on her income---17 years before Obama was born, in 1961. A pastor once told my Mother that she was the most faithful tithe-er he'd ever seen. On a fixed, low income, my Mom and Dad sent two hundred dollars to victims of Hurricane Andrew, in 1992.
Mom now weighs 95 pounds and looks like a prisoner in a Nazi concentration camp. She's flown the American flag on her front porch for as long as I can remember. The same flag Mr. Obama, once refused to wear on a pin, on his lapel.
Where's the hope and good times Mr. Obama promised my Mother? She never received the $250 social security payment he promised her, after it was announced that Americans on social security, would receive no cost-of-living adjustment this year. That would have been a big help to her, considering her utility bill generally runs over $230 every month. It ran over $400 one summer. She only receives $665 a month from social security.
About a year after Dad died, on July 10, 2008, Veteran Administration checks, to my Mom, in the amount of $350, began. The Obama administration believes that my Mother should not receive both the Widow's Benefit and Medicaid. The majority of American's who opposed the democrats' health care plan have feared, for a while, that this kind of thing would begin to happen.
While serving in the Navy, during World War II, the ship on which my Dad served ran out of everything to eat, except for ham. He and his mates ate ham morning, noon, and night---for, I believe it was, three months. I never knew, until years later, why my Dad often regurgitated his food, after meals----up to fifteen years after he left the Navy. The government rewarded my Dad $10 a month for that disability.
This is not your Mother and Dad's America. It's not your grandparent's America, or your great-grandparent's America. It is your America! The America voted for by your neighbors in unearned, blind allegiance to a well-spoken stranger, who seems to be totally at a loss as to how to govern America.
What a sad state of affairs when a nation elects the most powerful man on earth into office based on his boyish looks, charm, and oratorical skills, rather than say---an aptitude for governing.

Remember the old Life Alert commercial where the actor says: "I've fallen; and I can't get up!?" Well, America is falling; and she may never get back up. We are governed by senators and Congressmen, who, bless their little pea-pickin' hearts, are as crooked as a dogs hind leg. Nothing good ever comes of evil and corruption.
The present administration is filled with communists, socialists, Mao-loving radicals, and hypocrites.
Joe Biden is a so-called Catholic, who has ashes on his forehead, one day, in observance of Ash Wednesday, then is picked up on a microphone uttering the "f" word into Obama's ear, on another, for the world at large to hear.
Rahm Emanuel is an arrogant twit known for his big, foul mouth and short height. He throws the "f" word around like an adolescent gangster. He is known as "a brash personality with a penchant for profanity-laced diatribes."
Senator Charles Rangel is a tax cheat. He is a liar and an arrogant twit, as well.
Anita Dunn looks to Mao Zedong for guidance and inspiration. He murdered 70,000,000 of his own countrymen.
Obama promised that new law proposals and such would be posted on C-Span, for Americans to acquaint themselves with. He lied.

Nancy Pelosi and other democrats promised honesty in government. They lied. Remember the behind-closed-doors health care meetings?

"[D]oes it really make sense to put a tyrannical communist leader's visage on the American president's Christmas tree? On the other hand, an ornament that shellacks [Obama's] face onto Mount Rushmore is just tacky. It's in the guy's living room, for crying out loud."

A "czar" is an unofficial term used to describe an individual who is a special adviser to the President on a given issue. A czar is not subject to a Senate confirmation hearing and answers to no one except President Obama.
Van Jones, Former ACORN Board member and Green Jobs Czar (since resigned), is a black activist, with strong anti-white views. He's a member of the American Communist Party and the San Francisco Communist Party. He claimed that President George W. Bush was responsible for the 911 attack and sought to have Bush investigated by the World Court for war crimes. He plans to take America down so he and his cohorts can restructure it as a socialist/communist nation.
Cass Sunstein, Regulatory Czar, is a liberal activist judge, who believes free speech needs to be limited for the "common good". Essentially against the 1st amendment. He rules, many times, against personal freedoms, such as private gun ownership and right to free speech. He believes animals should have the right to sue human beings in court. He wants to outlaw guns, hunting, and fishing. He wrote a book entitled, Nudge, the theme of which is that, if you want to eliminate something, you do it incrementally, by nudging it out of existence. For example, to do away with those pesticides, instead of trying to outlaw them, you make them so expensive to purchase that the users of them cannot afford them. The same could be done to fishing and hunting licenses to eliminate fishing and hunting.
Richard Holbrooke, Afghanistan Czar, is an ultra-liberal, anti-gun former Gov. of New Mexico. He is pro-abortion and an advocate of legal drug use and the dissolution of the 2nd Amendment
Ed Montgomery, Auto recovery Czar, is a black radical and anti-business activist.. He is pro-Affirmative Action and Job Preference for blacks. He is the Dean of the University of Maryland Business School. He teaches that U.S. business has caused world poverty.
ACORN board member and communist DuBois Club member, Jeffrey Crowley, is AIDS Czar. He is a radical homosexual and gay rights activist. He believes in gay marriage and, especially, a special status for homosexuals only, including complete, free health care for gays.
Alan Bersin, Border Czar, is the former superintendent of San Diego. He is an ultra- liberal friend of Hilary Clinton. He served as Border Czar under Janet Reno, working to keep borders open to illegal immigrants, without interference from the U.S.
David J. Hayes, California Water Czar, Sr. He is Fellow of radical environmentalist group, "Progress Policy". He has no training or experience in water management whatsoever.

John Brennan, Terrorism Czar, is an Anti-CI A activist. He has no training in diplomatic or governmental affairs. He supports the idea of an open border between America and Mexico. He supports dialog with terrorists and has suggested Obama disband the U.S. military.
Aneesh Chopra, is Technology Czar, with no technology training. She worked for the Advisory Board Company, a health care think tank for hospitals. She's an anti-doctor activist and supports Obama health care rationing and salaried doctors working exclusively for the government health care plan.
Adolfo Carrion, Jr., Urban Affairs Czar, is a Puerto Rican-born anti American activist and leftist group member in Latin America. He is a millionaire "slum lord" of the Bronx, NY. He owns many lavish homes and condos which he obtained through "sweetheart" deals with labor unions. He seeks higher taxes on the American middle class to pay for minority housing and health care.
Ashton Carter, Weapons Czar, and Leftist, wants all private weapons in the U.S. destroyed. He supports a United Nations ban on firearms ownership in America. He has no other "policy".
Gary Samore, WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) Policy Czar, is a former U.S. communist. He wants the U.S. to destroy all WMD, unilaterally, as a show of good faith. He has no other "policy".
All decent Democracy-loving, freedom-loving Americans can only be repulsed, frightened, and dismayed by revelations herein this column. Send it to your friends and neighbors who are not aware of said revelations. I've talked to black ladies in the medical profession, who come to provide medical assistance to my Mother, who suffers from cancer. None that I've spoken with about the dire state of affairs in America know that Obama's czars are anti-American, anti-business, anti-gun ownership, and anti-Christian.
Knowledge is power, as the saying goes. If you are a black American, unaware of machinations of the Obama administration, I encourage you to educate yourself and your children to them. You've been promised the moon, by democrats for so many years, who've only shot you the moon. It's time to forget about parties; they're both guilty of corruption and deceit. It's time to think about America and how you can fix it all. And you--and I--can fix it by kicking them all out of office. We need to replace them with men and women of integrity.
We need to:
(1) legislate term limits
(2) change election funding laws
(3) narrow down campaigning to a maximum of six months
(4) put out faith in God Almighty and not in government alrighty

The only answer is to build up local power bases that can merge into a national power movement that will ultimately realize your goals. "[W]e are concerned," Alinsky elaborated, "with how to create mass organizations to seize power and give it to the people; to realize the democratic dream of equality, justice, peace, cooperation, equal and full opportunities for education, full and useful employment, health, and the creation of those circumstances in which men have the chance to live by the values that give meaning to life. We are talking about a mass power organization which will change the world … This means revolution."
But Alinsky's brand of revolution was not characterized by dramatic, sweeping, overnight transformations of social institutions. As Richard Poe puts it, "Alinsky viewed revolution as a slow, patient process. The trick was to penetrate existing institutions such as churches, unions and political parties." He advised organizers and their disciples to quietly, subtly gain influence within the decision-making ranks of these institutions, and to introduce changes from that platform. This was precisely the tactic of "infiltration" advocated by Lenin and Stalin.
As Alinsky put it: "A reformation means that the masses of our people have reached the point of disillusionment with past ways and values. They don't know what will work but they do know that the prevailing system is self-defeating, frustrating, and hopeless. They won't act for change but won't strongly oppose those who do. The time is then ripe for revolution."

Alarmingly, much of what Obama is doing to our country fit’s the profile of what was advocated and promoted by Saul Alinsky, in Rules For Radicals, to bring America to her knees. The problem we face, as Americans determined to disallow the overthrow of America, is to educate the millions of Americans who are still walking about in the darkness of ignorance concerning the existential threat Obama poses to the United States.
I risk being branded an alarmist by some. A single voice cried out to warn the world of the intentions of Adolph Hitler, in the twentieth century. From now on, many of my columns will be about how God-fearing Christians can restore America to its former pre-1960s configuration. We can grow a nation of God-fearing, God-loving children to fill the halls of Congress, to fill the halls of universities, to fill the check out lines at Wal*Mart, K Mart, and the seats of every movie theatre and sports arena, from North Dakota to Texas, from California to North Carolina.
If I live to be 82, I could see that dream fulfilled. If you're 82 or younger, you could see that dream fulfilled.

A frustrated mother called Rush Limbaugh on his radio show this week. She called to tell Rush that her young son called her, that same day, from school, to say that his teacher told the classroom of children that "old people" are the problem with the world. This fountain of wisdom went on to say that the world would a good place if all the old people were dead. That kind of thinking---demonizing a group of people and wanting them dead---is reminiscent of------who else? Adolph Hitler.
A federal judge in Wisconsin ruled the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional Thursday, April 8, 2010, saying the day amounts to a call for religious action. This comes about a week after our commander-in-chief declared that he and his wife would not attend public church services. Ironically, he finds no problem attending black churches, giving his best imitation of idiomatic ghetto-speak, when he's pushing his agenda.
Police in Guatemala say a 13-year-old boy has confessed to shooting a woman to death for a payment of about $12.50. The National Police say the suspect was carrying the fatal gun when arrested. Spokesman Donald Gonzalez says the boy told police he was paid to shoot the woman as she took her two children to school on the outskirts of Guatemala City.
Twenty-some states still legally practice corporal punishment in America. A school teacher, interviewed on Fox News Network, said that he paddles disobedient students. A representative for the A.C.L.U. expressed its disapproval of corporal punishment in schools, citing non-specific, unverified injuries of students in the past. What about teachers who've been assaulted in schools and beaten by unruly, hateful students? Many years ago I saw a teacher interviewed on, I believe, "60 Minutes". He could not talk about his experience of being severely beaten by a student, without having, as he put it, "a halting speech pattern".
Jon Stewart, comedian, on Comedy Channel, spoke ill of everyone on Fox News Network, this week. He looked straight into the camera and said: "F--- 'em".
Christians, due to indifference or due to scripture, remain passive in the face of the onslaught of attacks on Christians and Christianity and the population, in general.
Obama, following the instructions of Communist/Marxist, Saul Alinsky, says we must have a civilian army as big and powerful, and well-funded, as our military forces. [Who does he plan to go to war with?] Well, we good Christians already have an army. The problem is we don't counter the attacks of Christian-hating atheists in America. And believe me, I know that not all atheists hate Christians. We are too passive. We sit around and complain about the incremental deconstruction of the rights of Christians in America, but never raise a hand to do anything about it.
Well, there is one thing you can do about it. You can raise your children to believe in and adhere to biblical injunctions and principles that have provided stability in our homeland these many years. Have lots of children to take care of you in your old age, who'll mourn your passing when the time comes, who'll keep Christianity alive in America. In twenty years, we could have an even greater army of Christians to battle the evil in the world.

When actor Steve McQueen, one of the coolest stars to ever grace the silver screen, developed cancer, he turned to "the Lord" for comfort and help. After 9/11, many people in America turned to God for comfort. Members of Congress, Democrats and Republicans, stood on the steps of our nation's Capitol and sang Irving Berlin's soul-stirring "God Bless America.
Tragedy is the catalyst that can turn a heart of stone into malleable putty. It can turn a cocky swagger into a humble, ponderous gait. Suffering that comes as a result of almost unbearable emotional or physical pain, that leads one to seek God's grace and comfort, is called redemptive suffering.
Many children have never known hardship. They've never known poverty. They've never felt debilitating grief. They've never experienced adversity. And adversity builds character.
It's a sad fact that, counterintuitively, the humanity of nations lessens in direct proportion to its increase in prosperity. Albert Einstein said that technology dehumanizes people. He was spot on. Many children and many adults are addicted to their cell phones, iPods, and Blackberries. These gadgets are detrimental to developing social skills. Today, on Fox News Network, (Sunday, April 25, 2010) it was reported that some "young adults are addicted to social media." Without it they experience "cravings and withdrawals."
There is a way for children to develop character and compassion, without experiencing tragedy and hardships. That way is through parents. Parents can instill those qualities in their children. The first thing to do is take children to a good church. You may be saying to yourself, no way, church is not cool. After all, Hollywood and the liberal press have given Christianity a bad image. Christians have been portrayed as hate-mongering, homophobic, ignorant weaklings, by liberals, gays, and atheists. But if you want your children to grow up with character take them to church where they will learn about Jesus Christ, a man of character who spoke only of love, mercy, faith, and compassion.
Unfortunately, many parents are too busy trying to be "hip" like their children or too busy trying to be a friend to their children, rather than being a teacher imparting wisdom to their children.
Is Tiger Woods cool? He's not a Christian. He is a liar and a cheater. Is Jesse James, soon to be ex-husband of lovely actress Sandra Bullock, cool? He's no Christian. He is a liar and a cheater. Were Hitler, Mussolini, Mao Zedong, Stalin, and Saddam Hussein cool? They weren't Christians. They were, however, mass murderers.
Did you know that some of the coolest people on the planet are Christians? Bob Dylan is a Christian. George Harrison, of the Beatles, was a Christian. Did you know that John Lennon consulted, I believe it was, with Oral Roberts, once, for spiritual advice. Elvis Presley was a Christian. William F. Buckley, Jr. was a Christian. Dolly Parton is a Christian. Despite their failings and public humiliations, Glen Campbell and Mel Gibson are Christians. Johnny Cash was a Christian.
World War I was not started by Christians, neither was World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, or the Civil War.
Christians didn't bomb Pearl Harbor. Christians didn't fly planes into the World Trade Center towers. It wasn't a Christian who fired a bullet into the body of President Ronald Reagan. It wasn't a Christian who mercilessly shot John Lennon multiple times, killing him outside of the Dakota Building in New York City. It wasn't a Christian who shot and killed John Kennedy. It wasn't a Christian who shot and killed Robert Kennedy. It wasn't a Christian who shot and killed Martin Luther King. It wasn't a Christian who shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald. It wasn't a Christian who nailed Jesus to a cross.
The Red Cross was not created by atheists. Harvard was not built by atheists. America was not founded by atheists. They were founded by Christians. Harvard College was founded in 1636 as Puritan/Congregationalist institution, and trained ministers for many years.
It is not Christians who have threatened the lives of the creators of South Park; it is Muslims, offended and angered by a one-time mocking of Muhammad. Jesus is mocked routinely on South Park, but unlike Muslims, Christians don't kill people who disagree with them or mock their leader and savior, Jesus.
A Roman emperor used Christianity to stabilize the Roman empire, where Godless rulers took the lives of their own children, mothers, fathers, and siblings to obtain and maintain power.
If a Godless Roman emperor recognized the value of Christianity in his world, why can't we recognize the value of Christianity in ours?
Parents---teach your children to behave. And allow them to learn from the greatest teacher of all---Jesus Christ.

Why have we not thought of humbly applying to the Father to illuminate our understandings? During the war with Great Britain, we prayed daily in this room, and our prayers were graciously answered. At this critical juncture in time, in our nation, except for spirited tea parties, that are springing up across America, I find little to inspire hope and confidence that I our nation will rise above and survive its current radical upheaval. However, I find hope and confidence in the wonderfully written Tempest At Dawn, by James D. Best. I would have written this review ealier if not for all the highlighting I did, on almost every page. In his novel, Mr. Best sheds light on another critical juncture of our nation---a time when it was neccessary to revise the Articles of Confederation or write a new constitution. He does it with eloquence. I wanted to read Tempest At Dawn, from cover-to-cover, after reading the first couple of pages. I'm a great admirer of our Founding Fathers, which made Tempest At Dawn all the more difficult to put down.
After battling the British for eight years and winning it's independence, the United States stood on the precipice of dissolution. The instablity of the United States government threatened its very existence. Like a vulture, Europe was perched to pounce the fledgling nation at the first opportunity. The privileged elite plotted to overthrow the government. It was imperative that the United States create a stable government to avert these lurking dangers.
Fifty-seven delegates convened in Philadelphia, in 1787, for what was known as the Federal Convention, to hammer out a document to provide the means to maintain a durable, strong, and lasting government. It was the goal of these men to create a strong national government, while maintaining state sovereignty. Slavery was another issue that posed a major problem as well.
As I read Tempest At Dawn, I felt as though I was present at the proceedings of the Convention and the private and secret meetings of James Madison, George Washington, Robert Sherman, and others.You cannot help but feel pride as an American, as Tempest At Dawn reminds us of the seemingly impeccable integrity of our Founding Fathers---George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and James Madison, to name a few. The words "protocol" and "etiquette" come to my mind, while reading how they and the delegates of the Federal Convention regarded one another with utmost respect and civility.
Our Founding Fathers have been maligned and denigrated in recent years by liberal press and others with a progressive agenda. If you want to know the truth about the character of those gentlemen and you want to learn about the evolution of one of the greatest documents ever created by man---the Constitution of the United States---relax in your bed, favorite chair or recliner, and enjoy Tempest At Dawn, by James D. Best.

Why have we not thought of humbly applying to the Father to illuminate our understandings? During the war with Great Britain, we prayed daily in this room, and our prayers were graciously answered. Have we forgotten that powerful friend? Do we imagine that we no longer need his assistance? If a sparrow can't fall without his notice, can we raise an empire without his aid? If we don't seek his guidance, governments will only be created by chance, war, or conquest. At this critical juncture in time, in our nation, except for spirited tea parties, that are springing up across America, I find little to inspire hope and confidence that I our nation will rise above and survive its current radical upheaval. However, I find hope and confidence in the wonderfully written Tempest At Dawn, by James D. Best. I would have written this review ealier if not for all the highlighting I did, on almost every page. In his novel, Mr. Best sheds light on another critical juncture of our nation---a time when it was neccessary to revise the Articles of Confederation or write a new constitution. He does it with eloquence. I wanted to read Tempest At Dawn, from cover-to-cover, after reading the first couple of pages. I'm a great admirer of our Founding Fathers, which made Tempest At Dawn all the more difficult to put down.
After battling the British for eight years and winning it's independence, the United States stood on the precipice of dissolution. The instablity of the United States government threatened its very existence. Like a vulture, Europe was perched to pounce the fledgling nation at the first opportunity. The privileged elite plotted to overthrow the government. It was imperative that the United States create a stable government to avert these lurking dangers.
Fifty-seven delegates convened in Philadelphia, in 1787, for what was known as the Federal Convention, to hammer out a document to provide the means to maintain a durable, strong, and lasting government. It was the goal of these men to create a strong national government, while maintaining state sovereignty. Slavery was another issue that posed a major problem as well.
As I read Tempest At Dawn, I felt as though I was present at the proceedings of the Convention and the private and secret meetings of James Madison, George Washington, Robert Sherman, and others.You cannot help but feel pride as an American, as Tempest At Dawn reminds us of the seemingly impeccable integrity of our Founding Fathers---George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and James Madison, to name a few. The words "protocol" and "etiquette" come to my mind, while reading how they and the delegates of the Federal Convention regarded one another with utmost respect and civility.
Our Founding Fathers have been maligned and denigrated in recent years by liberal press and others with a progressive agenda. If you want to know the truth about the character of those gentlemen and you want to learn about the evolution of one of the greatest documents ever created by man---the Constitution of the United States---relax in your bed, favorite chair or recliner, and enjoy Tempest At Dawn, by James D. Best.
